Low Carb Cravings? Try These 3-Ingredient “Mini Pizzas”
If you’re trying to get your nutrition in order as part of your New Year’s Resolution, or simply because you noticed that you’re on a first-name basis with the pizza delivery guy, you may be trying to be a bit more thoughtful about how often you indulge in your favorite higher-calorie foods. But, if you’re human and not a really, really lifelike robot, you probably also get cravings from time to time.
The thing I like about this pizza alternative is that it still tends to hit all of the same flavors, because there’s nothing fake about it – no artificial sweeteners, nothing to make it seem like it’s not quite the same as pizza, because it still uses pizza ingredients – just omitting the crust to help keep the calories more manageable. You could easily add this to something like a cauliflower pizza crust too if you’re more of a dough person than a topping person.
3-INGREDIENT MINI PIZZAS
- 9 slices uncured Canadian bacon (we get this from Costco)
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 2oz shredded cheese
- fresh or dried basil
Preheat the oven to 350. Put the Canadian bacon either on a cookie sheet, or on parchment paper on the cookie sheet for easier clean up. Either use a spoon or basting brush to add the marinara, then drop the shredded cheese on top and sprinkle with the basil.
Bake for 20 minutes and let them cool off for 5 minutes before eating.
